I was born in Oxford and grew up in New York City. I attended Stuyvesant High School, Dartmouth College (BA Linguistics), Oxford University (MST Women's Studies), and Central Saint Martins (MA Fashion). I spent a year in Cairo after college. In 2000, I was scouted by the founder of Wilhelmina’s 10-20 Division, and was the first plus-size model of Chinese descent signed to a major American agency. My first book was published by HarperCollins.
Previously, I was the Chief Content Officer of Tatler Asia, where I led the brand relaunch and editorial strategy across eight markets: Hong Kong, mainland China, Singapore, Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. I was a Contributing Editor at Fast Company, Digital Director of Food & Wine, Digital Director of WWD, Editor at Large of Glamour, and Executive Editor of Epicurious. I was a reporter at the New York Post for seven years. I interned at British Vogue, Time Magazine Europe, and the law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell. I'm an author on a paper published in the Journal of Cellular Physiology.
