The Preatures / Is This How You Feel?

In each of us there are always these two, the one who stays, the one who’s leaving you.
I could keep on with the same mistakes, or I could make them with you.

Thing I could really use.

"There are other benefits to February 28, too. Your ruler is Jupiter, so while everyone will love this last day of the month, you will love it even more. Jupiter's job is to take care of you - more than any other planet can do, for he is your ruler. The Sun in your chart governs your solar ninth house of academia, long-distance travel, immigration matters, publishing, broadcasting, and Internet media, and all of these areas will shine for you." - Susan Miller

Sometimes this song runs through my head for days.

For the past 20 years, this song has run through my head, sometimes for days at a time.

Nostalgia / I Miss You

We may lose and we may win, though we'll never be here again.

Elewana Sand River Camp

The weather outside might be frightful, but these snowy, sleety days are some of my favorites as a work-at-home freelancer. I love waking up on a morning like this and looking out the window. Around 7:30, I rolled out of bed, pulled on my favorite fleecy sweatpants and my bright blue ski parka and wandered down the block to the grocery store, where I stocked up on lots of yummy provisions for the next 24 hours ahead (though I could probably, easily, last at least three days with what I bought).

I love supermarkets first thing in the morning—shelves stocked with fresh deliveries, no one else around. I picked up a rotisserie chicken, some ham, pasta, cheese, lots of good English tea, some biscuits, plenty of veg, polenta, and some rolled oats.

While I was in Africa, I ate loads—giant breakfasts and full three-course meals twice a day, every day—but I didn't gain any weight because, I suppose, all the foods were healthy, local, unprocessed, and made from whole ingredients.

I've been pretty good since I got back last week—especially because I'd been on malaria prophylactics until Saturday and am always super-careful about what I'm ingesting when I'm on scary meds like that—so was doing great. Until the Super Bowl last night, during which I ate loads of carbs, too much pie, and waaaay too many Doritos. I woke up this morning feeling really gross and sluggish. Processed food really does make you feel like crap—but I guess I wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been on three weeks of super-wholesome eating.

Back on the wagon! Lots of stories to finish up today—and book editing all week.
