Elbow's "One Day Like This" was playing at Paul Smith when we went in today.
"What made me behave that way? Using words I never say. I can only think it must be love. Oh, anyway, it’s looking like a beautiful day. Someone tell me how I feel, It’s silly wrong but vivid right. Oh, kiss me like the final meal, Yeah, kiss me like we die tonight."

Once in a while...
I have about an hour before we have to leave to meet Jamie for drinks before dinner. After dinner I'm going to see some friends from -- wait for it -- high school and junior high school at a person-I-don't-know's birthday party. Listening to Lily Allen's latest album on the iHome in my suite at the Hotel Monaco. I've had SUCH a fun time this week in California -- really, I didn't expect it. Maybe it's better having no expectations, but really when I boarded my flight last Sunday I was just sooo happy to be getting out of New York for a week. I think I really needed it. Anyway, I think the last time I had this much fun on a vacation were summertimes in Helsinki 2006-2007, which, of course, can never be beat because, come on, what beats five-hour-long midnight picnics with wine in the land of sun-never-sets, tranny cruises on the Baltic, and zipping over to Estonia for daytrips on a whim? This week has come pretty close, though. Susie says she moved to LA because she's emotionally governed by the weather. I told her that I think I'm emotionally governed by something else -- hunger, probably. But maybe, at the end of the day, 75 degree perfectly clear sunny skies don't hurt...
Tonga Bar, my new favoritest place on earth.
Danny: We're the only Asian people here.
Me: The people who work here are Asian.

Ring ring.
Front desk: Hi, Miss Lo, would you like to be upgraded to a suite for the duration of your stay?
(Is this a trick question?)

In San Fran cab on way to hotel
There is someone in a white convertible next to me blaring a rap song that goes "A-S-I-A-N That's what I am! That's what I am!"
I mean.

Susan: Do you want soul food breakfast?
Me: Uh, YES. What is that?

Good morning.
Susan: I got a little bit of a tan!
Danica: My legs are still the color of raw chicken.

I had a day
Did some work this morning, met with tv agent at Urth Cafe on Beverly (so LA), then meeting at Style Network, and dinner at Bombay Cafe in Santa Monica. New projects to work on, very exciting. Exhausted, must go to bed immediately. Have to file tomorrow morning. zz.
