What my Foursquare habits say about me

Namely, that I'm always running away, eating Italian food, and shopping.

Yeah, sounds about right.

Peter Island Preview

When Certified Angus Beef calls and invites you to spend a week ensconced on a private island in the middle of the British Virgin Islands, who can say no? I spent all of last week happy as a clam on Peter Island, hanging out with my new favorite people from CAB, the Texas Beef Council, and the US Meat Export Federation. You'll hear more about the food part of my trip on Eater.com this week. In the meantime, check out some photos I snapped on Peter Island. No doubt about it, it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

And for my next trick

I think I'll give up takeout/delivery.

I'm in Charlotte

I'm at the Charlotte airport waiting for my connecting flight to St. Thomas. The last time I was here was 1998, on a connection from Boston en route to Jamaica. We were traveling to Kingston to spend our spring breaks at Mother Theresa's Center for the Destitute and Dying, as well as a few days here an there on site visits to a leper colony, St. Margaret's Community Center, and a shanty town elementary school. It was my second year on the volunteer trip and, for some unknown reason, our flights had been canceled out of Boston, we were split into two groups, and when we landed in Charlotte, we had to sprint through the airport to try and make our connection. I still vividly remember it.

This is what I'll be doing while I'm on vacation.
