Jamie's America

One (of the many) things I miss about England is British television -- it's far more experimental and less formulaic than American TV. In fact, tons of our shows are straight-up rip-offs of British shows, repackaged without the edge for a North American audience. Anyway, I gripe because I just ran across the website for Jamie Oliver's show "Jamie's America," which looks totally brilliant. And since it's on Channel 4 over in the UK, it's not here yet (BBC America is great, but I'd love to have some Sky, ITV and Channel 4 over here too...). Jamie Oliver's also opening a chain of restaurants called Jamie's Italian -- with a branch in my (birth) hometown Oxford. I haven't been back to England in over two years. Time for another trip, fingers crossed, soon.
