For me the big sale this week ISN'T the Barneys Warehouse Sale

I mean, Barneys has good stuff and whatnot, but from previous experience, the first few weeks of the sale are just things left over from the real Barneys sale at the normal Barneys sale price. Who wants to go fight over stuff you could've civilly gotten in July?

No, I'm far more excited about the If Boutique Basement Sale, from today through August 17th, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., where EVERYTHING IS BELOW WHOLESALE PRICE. I had to bold that and capitalize that just because. Seriously. Below wholesale (generally, store mark-ups in New York range anywhere from 300 percent to 400 percent above wholesale -- that explains how stores still make money when things are 60 percent off). Here are some of the labels If Boutique stocks: Comme des Garcons, Ann Demeulemeester, Maison Martin Margiela, Veronique Branquinho.

So hey fashion people who don't really want to spend their hard-earned devalued dollars on discount Marc by Marc, head down to If at 94 Grand Street. See you there.
